To best serve the people of Peru, we will partner with local organizations in Peru who are devoted to serving their communities. Opportunities for service include constructing new classrooms in schools, teaching classes in the school, teaching English classes to adults and organizing sporting events or other opportunities for play with local children.
Life in Peruvian cities is very different than life in the farming, weaving and herding communities that populate the remote valleys and mountains of Peru. By trekking through these areas that roads do not visit, we will be able to meet people who have faithfully carried on the family practices of their trade for thousands of years.
Why go to Peru? Why serve? Because we believe that God cares about Peru and the people in Peru, and we also believe that going to new places and experiencing new situations helps us grow. This trip is designed to help us explore more fully what God wants for our relationships – our relationships with Him, with people of other cultures and races, with creation and with ourselves. We will spend time learning about who God is, how He feels about issues of injustice, poverty, diversity and racial relations and learning who we are as His beloved children, created in His image.
