Why LDW?

summer_b.jpgWhy LDW?

You are a college student and are excited to spend a part of your summer growing in your relationship with God and in your ability to lead, love and serve the people around you. You want an adventure this summer, but more importantly you want to give God the chance to transform you by spending 40 days in the wilderness. If this describes you at all, LDW is the experience for you!

LDW is not just a summer of thrills and excitement.

While you will definitely have an exciting summer, LDW is not just about experiencing thrills; instead, the focus is on using the unique environment of the wilderness to create opportunities for holistic character growth. This character development will prepare you to be transformational leaders for service in Christ’s kingdom in the wilderness, on campus, with family and peers, in pursuit of a career and in all other areas of your life.

You will spend 6 weeks with a team of instructors who have chosen ministering to college students as their vocation and who are excited about the chance to spend so much time getting to know you and investing in your growth.

You will have a chance to receive college credit and become a nationally recognized Outdoor Leader by the Wilderness Education Association (WEA).

If you are interested in wilderness leadership, you will have the chance to become a  Wilderness Education Association (WEA) Certified Outdoor Leader. The WEA is a national certifying body in the outdoor field. In addition to getting a WEA certificate, you can also get college credit through this trip. Montreat College, in North Carolina, will grant interested participants 3 credits under the course title ‘Special Topics in Outdoor Education’ that can be transferred to your college or university.
